MCGISA Introduction Letter

Greetings fellow county employee,
We would like to introduce you to the Minnesota County GIS Association (MCGISA). MCGISA is an association of county professionals whose mission is to advance GIS technology in Minnesota county governments by providing leadership, support and advocacy.
- Specifically, the goals are:
- Foster support and awareness among public officials.
- Cultivate leadership and professional development through workshops, seminars,and meetings.
- Provide a forum to share knowledge, information and experience among the members of the Association.
- Advocate MCGISA positions to policy makers on regional, state, and federal issues.
- Support the development and implementation of standards.
MCGISA is a non-profit corporation registered in the State of Minnesota.
Membership in MCGISA consists of two classes. Full members are the GIS Representative from each county. There are a total of 87 full members, which are also voting members. Associate members are any person with an interest in county GIS issues.
To facilitate information sharing, regional meetings will be held a few times per year. These meetings will allow GIS professionals to freely exchange ideas, solutions, and discuss common issues. The regions are based upon the ten AMC regions in Minnesota.

As we approach springtime in Minnesota, our beautiful lands are undergoing an enormous but familiar transition: for the land it is a time of birth and renewal. We are writing to you today because MCGISA is experiencing the same transition – it’s our time to ask you to become a member by joining. Just as the winds sweep across our landscape and breathe new life into the land, so too does your support create new possibilities of GIS in County Government in Minnesota. Whether you work in a small or big county, MCGISA works on your behalf throughout the year assist all those working in County GIS.
